China and Arab States Forge New Path with Beijing Declaration

In a significant move to strengthen ties, China and Arab states adopted a series of outcome documents, including the Beijing Declaration, at the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) held in Beijing on Thursday.

The Beijing Declaration marks a new chapter in China-Arab relations, reaffirming the commitment of both sides to support each other’s core interests and deepen pragmatic cooperation. The declaration outlines a practical path for building a China-Arab community with a shared future, emphasizing collaboration in political resolution of regional issues, dialogue among civilizations, global governance, counter-terrorism, human rights, artificial intelligence, and climate change.

During the conference, China signed numerous bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements with participating countries and the General Secretariat of the Arab League. These agreements aim to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including politics, economy and trade, investment, finance, infrastructure, resources and environment, cultural exchange, aerospace, education, and health.

The CASCF execution plan for 2024-2026 lays out a roadmap for strengthening the forum’s mechanisms over the next two years. It seeks to promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation, fostering greater understanding and partnership between China and the Arab states.

In addition, a joint statement on the Palestinian issue was issued, expressing deep concerns over the prolonged conflict in Gaza and the resulting humanitarian crisis. China and the Arab states emphasized their firm stance on promoting a ceasefire in Gaza, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, and opposing the forced displacement of Palestinian people. The joint statement also reaffirmed support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations and a steadfast commitment to resolving the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution.

This conference highlights the shared vision of China and the Arab states to work collaboratively towards peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. By adopting these outcome documents, both sides have demonstrated a willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue and cooperation, addressing global challenges and fostering mutual development.
