Beijing, May 31—Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday, underscoring the commitment of both nations to build a China-Egypt community with a shared future in the new era.
President El-Sisi is on a state visit to China from May 28 to 31, during which he will attend the opening ceremony of the 10th ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.
Highlighting the historic ties, President Xi noted that 68 years ago, Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. “Despite changes in the international situation, our two countries have always trusted each other, cooperated sincerely, and developed hand in hand,” Xi stated.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt. Xi emphasized that bilateral relations have become a vivid portrayal of China’s solidarity and win-win cooperation with Arab, African, Islamic, and developing countries. He called for building a dynamic China-Egypt relationship that meets the common expectations of both peoples.
“China stands ready to work with Egypt to deepen mutual trust, promote cooperation, and contribute to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world,” Xi affirmed.
President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support and highlighted the importance of further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership. “Amid profound and complex changes globally and crises in the Middle East, Egypt looks forward to enhancing cooperation with China to promote regional peace and stability,” El-Sisi said.
El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s adherence to the one-China principle and firmly supported China’s positions on issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xizang, human rights, and other core interests. He affirmed Egypt’s support for China’s efforts to achieve complete national reunification.
