Chinese Cultural Experience Day in Kuwait Showcases Xinjiang Traditions

The China Cultural Center in Kuwait came alive on Monday as it hosted the Chinese Culture Experience Day, captivating attendees with vibrant performances and interactive activities that highlighted the richness of Chinese culture.

Spouses of diplomats and local residents gathered at the center to immerse themselves in the cultural festivities. Miao Haiyan, wife of the Chinese ambassador to Kuwait, welcomed participants to explore a diverse array of cultural expressions that embody the essence of China’s heritage. Xia Jianfeng, director of the China Cultural Center in Kuwait, underscored the significance of fostering cultural exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the Chinese and Kuwaiti peoples.

A highlight of the event was the performance by a visiting arts delegation from northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The troupe delighted the audience with traditional Muqam dance, energetic hand drum routines, and soulful folk songs, creating an engaging and enthusiastic atmosphere. The performances offered a glimpse into the unique traditions of the Uygur culture, mesmerizing spectators and bridging cultural divides through art.

Participants also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, including calligraphy workshops, traditional Chinese painting, and tea ceremonies. These interactive experiences allowed guests to connect more deeply with Chinese customs and artistic practices.
