China Global Television Network (CGTN) and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) are joining forces to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. This collaboration will feature a series of special programs highlighting the rich history and fruitful developments of bilateral ties over the past five decades.
The joint productions include three mini-documentaries and two roundtable discussions, presented by anchors and journalists from both CGTN and Bernama TV. These programs aim to delve into the historical and contemporary aspects of the China-Malaysia relationship, tracing back to the 15th-century voyages of Admiral Zheng He, and showcasing the longstanding diplomatic and trade connections that have shaped both nations.
“Both parties are contributing ideas and insights to produce the documentaries,” said Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali, Bernama’s Head of TV. “Part of the filming was done in China, where Bernama sent a crew for two weeks, while the CGTN crew spent five days in Malaysia for filming.”
This collaborative effort not only celebrates the half-century of formal diplomatic relations but also emphasizes the deep-rooted cultural and historical links between China and Malaysia. The programs are set to offer viewers an in-depth understanding of how these ties have evolved and the impact they have on the current geopolitical and economic landscape in Asia.
As both countries continue to strengthen their partnership, these special broadcasts aim to foster greater awareness and appreciation among audiences worldwide, highlighting the significance of China-Malaysia relations in promoting regional cooperation and development.
