Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter on Thursday to the China-GCC Countries Forum on Industrial and Investment Cooperation, which commenced in Xiamen, Fujian Province.
President Xi highlighted the longstanding friendly exchanges between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, spanning over a millennium. He noted that the successful convening of the first China-Arab States Summit in 2022 has opened new horizons for deepening cooperation between China and GCC nations.
Emphasizing the importance of industrial and investment collaboration, Xi stated that strengthening ties in these areas would synergize China’s Belt and Road Initiative with the GCC countries’ development strategies and visions. This cooperation aims to harness complementary advantages, foster new growth engines, and promote shared prosperity and development.
“China is willing to work with GCC countries to promote unity, pursue cooperation, and write a new chapter in China-GCC relations,” Xi added.
The forum, themed “Embracing the Future: Advancing High-Quality Industrial and Investment Cooperation between China and GCC Countries,” brings together leaders and industry experts to discuss opportunities for collaboration. The event is co-hosted by the National Development and Reform Commission and the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
The Gulf Cooperation Council, comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, represents a critical region for China’s international partnerships. This forum signifies a mutual commitment to strengthening economic ties and exploring new avenues for growth.
