American Vlogger Explores Millennia-Old Porcelain Culture in Jingdezhen

Jingdezhen, East China — Known worldwide as the “Porcelain Capital,” Jingdezhen City has been the heart of China’s ceramic culture for over a thousand years. From intricate artworks to everyday household items, ceramics are an integral part of life in this storied city.

Denis Neymark, a ceramic artist and vlogger from the United States, first visited Jingdezhen nine years ago to study the ancient craft. Captivated by the city’s rich heritage and vibrant community of artisans, he decided to make it his home.

In his latest video journey, Denis delves deep into the Expo Area of Ancient Kiln and Folk Cultures, exploring kilns that date back to the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. “Walking through these ancient sites, you can feel the history and the countless hands that have shaped porcelain here,” he remarks.

Denis also immerses himself in the bustling Jingdezhen ceramic market, where artists from around the globe gather. Meeting with fellow ceramic artist Jaume, Denis discusses the unique allure of Jingdezhen. “This city has everything for ceramic lovers,” Jaume enthuses. “The techniques, the materials, the inspiration — it’s all here.”

For Denis, Jingdezhen is more than just a place to practice his craft; it’s a living museum where tradition and innovation merge. “The ceramic culture and techniques have been passed down for thousands of years,” he says. “Artists today are not just preserving these traditions but also carrying them forward in new and exciting ways.”

The international community in Jingdezhen is a testament to its global significance. Artists from all corners of the world contribute to a diverse and dynamic culture, creating masterpieces that blend traditional Chinese techniques with modern artistic expressions.

As Denis continues his exploration, he invites viewers to experience the magic of Jingdezhen. “Whether you’re an artist, a collector, or just someone who appreciates beauty, Jingdezhen offers a glimpse into a world where history lives on through art.”
