Sino-French Choir Concert Celebrates 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations

In anticipation of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France in 2024, a unique Sino-French choir concert was recently held in Paris, celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations. The event featured performances by the Wuzhishan Li and Miao Children’s Choir from Wuzhishan City in Hainan Province, the French Choeur des Polysons (Polysons Children’s Choir), and La chorale Chin’harmonie of the Association Vent d’Orient Vent d’Occident.

The concert brought together talented choirs and musicians from both countries, offering a magnificent audiovisual experience to local Chinese and French audiences. This cultural exchange added a vibrant touch to the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, highlighting the deepening ties between the two nations.

The French Choeur des Polysons opened the concert with an excerpt from the classic French opera “Carmen”, followed by a heartfelt rendition of “If I Go to China”, a song expressing their admiration for China’s beautiful scenery and rich culture. In a harmonious reply, the Wuzhishan Li and Miao Children’s Choir, adorned in exquisite ethnic costumes, performed the original song “Singing Wuzhishan to France” in both Chinese and French, showcasing the diverse cultural heritage of China.

The collaborative performances symbolized the mutual respect and appreciation between China and France, fostering cultural understanding through the universal language of music. The concert not only celebrated a significant milestone in diplomatic relations but also strengthened people-to-people connections, paving the way for future cultural exchanges.

As China and France look forward to the next 60 years of partnership, events like this choir concert exemplify the continued commitment to friendship and mutual enrichment between the two countries.
