The Communist Party of Vietnam has nominated Minister of Public Security To Lam as the country’s next state president, according to the Vietnam News Agency on Saturday.
To Lam, 67, has served as the Minister of Public Security since April 2016 and is a member of the Politburo, the party’s highest decision-making body. His nomination reflects his long-standing dedication and significant contributions to Vietnam’s security and governance.
In addition to To Lam’s nomination, the party has recommended Tran Thanh Man, the current permanent vice chairman of the National Assembly (NA), to become the assembly chairman. Man, 62, has held his position since April 2021 and is also a member of the Politburo.
The National Assembly, Vietnam’s legislative body, is scheduled to convene its next session starting on Monday, during which it will vote on these significant leadership recommendations. The anticipated appointments are seen as pivotal in shaping Vietnam’s political landscape and addressing the nation’s ongoing challenges and development goals.
The nominations of experienced leaders like To Lam and Tran Thanh Man underscore the Communist Party’s commitment to stability and continuity as Vietnam continues to navigate economic growth and regional dynamics in Southeast Asia.
