Xavi Celebrates 100th Match as Barcelona Manager, Aims for Future Glory

Barcelona’s iconic coach, Xavi Hernandez, marked a significant milestone on Thursday by overseeing his 100th game in charge, leading the team to a 2-0 win against Almeria. Despite the victory and a solid position in La Liga, Xavi expressed his determination to guide Barcelona back to winning major titles.

Speaking at a press conference, Xavi highlighted his ambitions amidst the club’s ongoing challenges. “I have every ambition to win titles,” he said. “The economic situation is not the best, and we are working to reverse it. We are planning for next season, and I see it as an opportunity.”

Xavi, who initially considered departing at the season’s end, has recommitted to Barcelona, focusing on future successes. “We are preparing to compete in the Super Cup next year. I really want Barca to win titles again. This year, we haven’t competed well enough to win them, but we’ve come close. I’m eager, excited, and ambitious,” he added.

During his illustrious 17-year playing career with Barcelona, Xavi made 767 appearances and secured 25 trophies, including multiple Champions League and La Liga titles. As a manager, he led the team to a La Liga victory last year but has faced scrutiny this season due to challenges like trailing behind rivals Real Madrid and an early Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain.

Financial obstacles, such as a substantial renovation project at Camp Nou and a significant wage bill, have added to the pressures. Yet, Xavi remains optimistic about rebuilding. “It’s not an easy or pleasant situation. We want to win titles, and we haven’t done our homework. We have a very good squad, and I am happy with the level of ambition of the players,” he acknowledged.

Emphasizing the importance of a strong finish, Xavi added, “We tell the players the importance of finishing second, but I want to compete and fight for titles.”

As Barcelona navigates these challenges, supporters and analysts are keen to see how Xavi’s leadership will shape the club’s future and return it to its former glory on the European stage.
