International academic publisher Springer Nature has recently signed letters of intent for cooperation with Fudan University in Shanghai and the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, as well as Wenzhou City. These partnerships aim to establish long-term cooperation mechanisms and strengthen collaboration in multiple fields.
Marc Spenlé, Chief Operating Officer of Springer Nature Group, stated that the partnership with Fudan University represents another milestone in the company’s efforts to facilitate the Chinese mainland’s international research collaboration. “Shanghai is not just a commercial hub; it is a hub for innovation,” he said. Springer Nature opened an office in Shanghai 12 years ago before expanding into other Chinese cities.
The cooperation with Fudan University covers areas including research capacity building, the growth of early-career scientists, and the study of international scientific research trends. Springer Nature will provide high-quality services to support Fudan University’s pursuit of research excellence and anticipates in-depth and extensive cooperation in different fields.
On May 7, Springer Nature also signed a letter of intent for cooperation with the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology and Wenzhou City. This collaboration supports the World Young Scientists Summit hosted by Wenzhou, aiming to enable early-career scientists from the Chinese mainland and the rest of the world to collaborate and thrive together.
“The Chinese mainland has made immense progress in innovation and contributed excellent scientific findings,” said Spenlé. In the Global Innovation Hubs Index, the Chinese mainland had three cities or regions ranked among the global top 10, underscoring its significant role in the global research landscape.
