Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for enhanced cooperation between China and France to promote global peace and development. In a signed article titled “Carrying Forward the Spirit that Guided the Establishment of China-France Diplomatic Relations, Working Together for Global Peace and Development” published in the French newspaper Le Figaro, Xi emphasized the importance of the China-France relationship and outlined three key messages.
First, President Xi highlighted the significance of carrying forward the spirit that guided the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France. He noted that over the past 60 years, the two countries have built a strong comprehensive strategic partnership, leading the way in various fields such as aviation, nuclear energy, and cultural exchanges. Xi stressed the need to build on past achievements and open new vistas for bilateral relations.
Second, Xi Jinping assured that China will open even wider to the world and deepen cooperation with France and other countries. He mentioned China’s commitment to high-quality development and its readiness to welcome more French products and investments. Xi encouraged collaboration on innovation and green development, expressing support for Chinese companies investing in France and hoping for a fair business environment.
Third, President Xi emphasized China’s willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with France to uphold world peace and stability. He reiterated China’s commitment to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and its constructive role in seeking peaceful resolutions to global issues. Xi expressed hope for joint efforts with France to find reasonable ways out of crises such as the Ukraine conflict and the Palestinian-Israeli situation.
Concluding his article, Xi Jinping called for joint efforts to forge a stronger China-France partnership, stating, “Let us join hands together on this new journey toward greater progress in China-France relations to the benefit of our two countries and the world!”
