Xi Jinping Urges Chinese Youth to Lead Modernization Efforts
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called upon the nation’s youth to embrace their role as the driving force behind China’s modernization. Speaking ahead of China’s Youth Day on May 4, President Xi emphasized the importance of young people in shaping the country’s future.
In messages conveyed on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Xi extended festive greetings to young people nationwide. He highlighted that in the new era, youths from all ethnic groups are acting as “spearheads and vital forces” across various sectors, including scientific and technological innovation, rural revitalization, green development, social services, and national defense.
“The CPC Central Committee has full trust in and high expectations for the youth,” Xi stated, underscoring the significant role they play in responding to the call of the Party and the people.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 105th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement—a pivotal moment in Chinese history led by young intellectuals advocating for progress and reform. President Xi urged the youth to carry forward the spirit of the movement, remain steadfast in following the Party, and contribute to building a strong nation and achieving national rejuvenation.
He also called on Party organizations at all levels to enhance their leadership in youth-related work, showing genuine care for their growth and supporting them in achieving their aspirations. “The Communist Youth League of China should shoulder the missions and tasks entrusted by the Party in the new era, rallying young people to strive for the cause of the Party and the people,” Xi added.
