This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), symbolizing a decade of growing cooperation between China and Latin America. In a significant move to enhance these ties, the foreign ministers of Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru recently concluded high-level visits to Beijing.
The visits underscore a mutual commitment to strengthening trade and development cooperation. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Argentinian Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, emphasizing the importance of deepening political mutual trust and practical cooperation. “China is ready to continue working with Argentina, understand and support each other, be fellow partners in development, continuously enhance political mutual trust, push for steady and long-term practical cooperation, and deliver benefits to the two peoples,” said Han Zheng.
These diplomatic engagements are seen as a concerted effort to advance a China-Latin America community with a shared future. Discussions focused on expanding economic partnerships, enhancing cultural exchanges, and collaborating on global issues of mutual interest.
Bolivia’s and Peru’s foreign ministers also engaged in comprehensive talks with Chinese leaders, exploring opportunities in infrastructure development, technology exchange, and environmental cooperation. The meetings highlight the positive momentum in China-Latin America relations and the shared vision for sustainable development.
The 10th anniversary of the CELAC Forum serves as a milestone, reflecting on past achievements and setting a roadmap for future collaboration. Both China and Latin American countries are poised to build upon this foundation, fostering partnerships that contribute to regional and global prosperity.
