In a move to strengthen bilateral ties, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Thursday. The meeting aimed to enhance economic and scientific-technological cooperation between China and the city of San Francisco.

Vice President Han Zheng emphasized the historical significance of San Francisco in China-U.S. relations, recalling the pivotal summit held in the city last November. “San Francisco has a longstanding bond with China and has been at the forefront of California and the United States in fostering exchanges with China,” Han noted.

Han expressed hopes that Mayor Breed’s visit would further promote collaboration in areas such as economy, trade, science, and technology. He highlighted the importance of joint efforts in tackling climate change, increasing cultural and personnel exchanges, and enhancing the friendship between the Chinese and American people. “We aim to promote the sound and steady development of China-U.S. relations,” Han said.

Mayor Breed conveyed her commitment to implementing the consensus reached during the San Francisco summit. “Our goal is to promote the development of bilateral relations through local and non-governmental exchanges,” she stated.
