China and U.S. Presidents Reaffirm Commitment to Dialogue and Cooperation

Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden spoke on the phone Tuesday evening, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing dialogue and advancing cooperation between the two nations.

“Two big countries like China and the United States should not cut off their ties or turn their back on each other, still less slide into conflict or confrontation,” President Xi told President Biden during the call. He emphasized the importance of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and pursuing win-win cooperation.

The leaders agreed to maintain open channels of communication and instructed their respective teams to work diligently to deliver on the shared vision established during their meeting in San Francisco last November. Since that landmark meeting, exchanges at various levels have increased, fostering progress in key areas.

Significant advancements have been made in diplomacy, economy, trade, finance, law enforcement, anti-narcotics efforts, climate change response, and people-to-people exchanges. These developments signal a positive trend in bilateral relations, with both nations recognizing the global importance of a stable and cooperative relationship.

The commitment of China and the United States to address shared challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration is a promising step towards ensuring peace and prosperity not only for the two countries but also for the international community.
