In a recent phone conversation, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu called on the United States to act responsibly in maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea. The discussion with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell took place on Wednesday at the request of the U.S. side, according to a statement released by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the call, both diplomats exchanged views on China-U.S. relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest.
