China’s National Meteorological Center has renewed a yellow alert for sandstorms affecting the northern parts of the country. From 8 a.m. on March 28 to 8 a.m. on March 29, drifting sand and dust are expected to sweep across parts of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Henan, Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces.
The National Meteorological Center has warned that some areas in Inner Mongolia may experience severe sandstorms. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the adverse weather conditions, which can disrupt transportation and impact air quality.
Sandstorms are a common occurrence in northern China during the spring season, often caused by strong winds carrying dust from arid regions and deserts. The government has been implementing measures to combat desertification and reduce the frequency of such events, aiming to protect both the environment and public health.
