China Renews Yellow Alert as Thick Fog Engulfs Eastern Seas

China’s National Meteorological Center renewed a yellow alert on Saturday morning for heavy fog expected to blanket parts of the country’s eastern coastal regions.

According to the center, thick fog is anticipated to envelop areas over the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and East China Sea, as well as coastal waters off the Liaodong and Shandong Peninsulas, and the provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian.

Visibility in some affected areas is forecasted to be reduced to less than one kilometer, posing significant challenges for maritime navigation.

Authorities have advised vessels operating in these regions to enhance their lookout, adjust speed accordingly, and maintain a safe distance from other ships and hazards to ensure safe passage.

China employs a three-tier color-coded warning system for fog, with yellow indicating the need for caution but being less severe than orange and red alerts. The renewed alert underscores the persistent fog conditions impacting the eastern seaboard and highlights the importance of maritime safety measures.
