Maria Sakkari of Greece returned to her winning ways at the Miami Open, defeating Yuan Yue of China 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday to secure her place in the third round. Just days after her runner-up finish at Indian Wells, Sakkari showcased resilience and dominance on the court, signaling her intent to make a deep run in Miami.

In another notable match, former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark was eliminated by Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina in a gripping three-set battle. Kalinina overcame Wozniacki with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 6-4, demonstrating tenacity and endurance in a match that lasted over two hours.

Fourth seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan faced a stern test from Danish qualifier Clara Tauson. Rybakina had to rally from a set down to defeat Tauson 3-6, 7-5, 6-4. “Clara played exceptionally well, and it was a tough match,” Rybakina commented. “I’m happy to advance and will focus on recovering for the next round.”
