China’s Ambitious Vision for a \”Beautiful China\” by 2035
In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, China has announced its commitment to establish a modern ecological environment monitoring system by 2035. This initiative aims to support the construction of a \”Beautiful China,\” as outlined in a recent document released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) in Beijing.
Under this plan, three key monitoring indicators have been proposed to evaluate progress: a healthy ecosystem, a beautiful environment, and green, low-carbon development. These indicators serve as benchmarks for measuring the nation’s ecological well-being and commitment to sustainable growth.
\”In terms of a healthy ecosystem, we are looking at whether biodiversity has become richer and if our ecosystems are more stable and sustainable,\” explained Jiang Huohua, director of the Department of Ecological and Environmental Monitoring under the MEE. \”A beautiful environment means the sky is bluer, the water is clearer, and the land is greener.\”
Jiang emphasized that green and low-carbon development focuses on promoting green lifestyles and production methods. \”The monitoring data will tell you how a beautiful China is achieved,\” he added, highlighting the importance of data in tracking environmental progress.
This ambitious plan reflects China’s dedication to environmental protection and sustainable development. By setting clear indicators and leveraging advanced monitoring systems, China aims to create a harmonious balance between economic growth and ecological preservation, benefiting not only its own citizens but also contributing to global environmental efforts.
