Danyang, a county-level city in east China’s Jiangsu Province, is renowned as the world’s largest production base for spectacle lenses. Generating over 400 million spectacle lenses annually, Danyang accounts for 75 percent of China’s production and 50 percent of the global total. The city boasts a comprehensive industrial chain for the eyewear sector, earning it the title of China’s “capital of glasses.”

Zein Ali, a vlogger from Syria, recently toured Danyang to uncover the city’s influence on the global eyewear industry.
