NATO reaffirmed its commitment to bolster Ukraine’s defenses during the recent NATO-Ukraine Council meeting in Brussels on January 10. The alliance announced plans to provide Ukraine with significant military, economic, and humanitarian assistance, with many members outlining billions of euros in additional support for 2024.
However, the U.S. Department of State indicated on January 4 that while the United States will support Ukraine as long as necessary, it may not maintain the same levels of aid provided in 2022 and 2023. This shift places the onus on Europe to assume a larger role in supporting Kyiv.
