Gazans Struggle for Essentials Amid Displacement from Airstrikes

The health department of the Gaza Strip reported early on October 15 that Israeli airstrikes over the past 24 hours have claimed the lives of at least 300 people, mostly women and children, and injured 800 others. The intensified attacks have led to significant displacement, forcing many residents to evacuate to southern areas of the Gaza Strip.

In the Al-Zahra district, a normally quiet area now overwhelmed with people, a CGTN stringer captured the dire circumstances of local residents and refugees from the north. Long lines formed on the streets as people waited to obtain scarce water supplies and purchase bread from a nearby bakery.

“Look at this. It’s a very difficult situation for everyone,” said Muhammad Al-Ghaf, a local resident. “There used to be 10,000 people living here, and now there are almost 30,000 people. The city’s supplies have been completely paralyzed, and food and water are not available to meet the demand. Please sympathize and help the children here!”

The sudden influx of displaced individuals has strained the already limited resources of the area. Essential services are overwhelmed, and there is an urgent need for humanitarian assistance to address the shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.

The escalating conflict has raised international concern, highlighting the vulnerability of civilians caught in the midst of ongoing hostilities. Humanitarian organizations are calling for immediate aid to prevent further deterioration of the living conditions in the Gaza Strip.
