Przewalski’s Horses Begin New Journey in Gansu’s Dunhuang Nature Reserve

The reintroduction of Przewalski’s horses into their natural habitat marks a significant milestone in wildlife conservation efforts in China. On September 16, the West Lake National Nature Reserve in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, launched a plan to reintroduce these rare horses. The first batch of 19 Przewalski’s horses has left the semi-wild area, venturing into the vast expanse of the reserve.

Dividing into three groups, the horses are navigating through diverse landscapes, adapting to their new environment. This initiative aims not only to boost the population of Przewalski’s horses but also to restore ecological balance in the region.

Local conservationists and wildlife experts are closely monitoring the horses’ progress to ensure their successful integration into the wild. The outcomes of this program could serve as a model for future wildlife conservation projects across Asia, highlighting the importance of protecting endangered species.
