For Celia Annetta, an Indonesian psychology student at Tsinghua University, China's vast landscapes have become more than just a backdrop to her studies—they are an integral part of her journey of discovery. Embracing the convenience of China's high-speed rail network, Celia has traveled to 17 cities, immersing herself in the country's rich cultural tapestry.
“The high-speed trains have opened up China to me in ways I never imagined,” Celia shares. “The efficiency and comfort make exploring new places so accessible.”
Since arriving in China, Celia has been struck by the rapid development of infrastructure and the noticeable improvement in people's living standards. The ubiquity of mobile payments and seamless transportation options have made daily life and travel remarkably convenient.
One of her most memorable experiences was visiting Inner Mongolia, where she was captivated by the region's unique traditions and flavors. “Tasting the salty milk tea was unforgettable,” she recalls. “It was a perfect example of the diverse cultures within China.”
As Celia continues her studies, she also looks to the future with aspirations to strengthen the ties between Indonesia and China. “I hope to engage in business and trade between our countries,” she says. “Building bridges through mutual understanding and collaboration is so important.”
Celia's story reflects a broader narrative of how Generation Z is experiencing the world—through openness, exploration, and embracing technological advancements that make global connections possible.
“Traveling by high-speed train isn't just about getting from one place to another,” Celia concludes. “It's about the journey, the people you meet, and the cultures you experience along the way.”
