“River and I”: Hong Kong Youth Bridges Mainland Life Through “Handle” Platform

In the heart of Zhongshan, a city in south China’s Guangdong Province, Hong Kong youth Venus Liu is weaving a tapestry of shared experiences between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. As the founder of the “Handle” life culture platform, Liu is on a mission to present a more authentic and vivid picture of mainland life to a broader audience.

Drawn by the favorable business environment and supportive policies for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao youth entrepreneurs, Liu relocated to Zhongshan to pursue her vision. “The low business costs and the encouragement for start-ups here provided the perfect opportunity,” she shared.

Through “Handle,” Liu and her partners produce engaging videos capturing everyday moments and stories from the mainland. “We aim to bridge the gap in understanding by showcasing real-life experiences,” Liu explained. “It’s about building connections and offering a window into the lives of people here.”

Looking to the future, Liu envisions creating a platform with shared resources, opening doors for more Hong Kong youth to explore career opportunities in the Greater Bay Area. “There’s so much potential for collaboration and growth,” she said. “I hope to provide options for others like me who are seeking new paths.”

The Greater Bay Area, encompassing Guangdong Province, Hong Kong, and Macao, has become a hub for innovation and cooperation. Initiatives supporting young entrepreneurs aim to foster integration and shared prosperity. Liu’s journey reflects this spirit, embodying the possibilities that arise when cultures and ideas come together.

“It’s not just about business,” Liu emphasized. “It’s about understanding, connection, and building a shared future.”
