ROK President Lee: China Cooperation Key to Green Energy Future

ROK President Lee Jae Myung emphasized the strategic importance of collaboration with China in renewable energy during an exclusive interview with CMG ahead of his four-day state visit to the Chinese mainland, which kicked off today. Lee described China as a "global leader" in clean energy innovation and stressed that enhanced bilateral cooperation could unlock significant economic and environmental benefits for both nations.

"China's advancements in solar, wind, and battery technologies are reshaping global energy markets," Lee stated, noting that the ROK aims to align its Green New Deal policy with China's carbon neutrality goals. The visit comes as both countries work to finalize a cross-border green technology partnership expected to be announced later this week.

Analysts suggest this collaboration could position the ROK as a key partner in China's Belt and Road green energy initiatives while providing Chinese firms access to advanced semiconductor technologies crucial for smart grid systems. The timing coincides with renewed international focus on climate action following last month's APEC members' agreement to accelerate renewable energy adoption.
