China showcased its freestyle skiing prowess on Sunday, December 21, as two national teams claimed gold and silver medals in the mixed team aerials final at the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup in Chongli’s Secret Garden Snow Park. The event drew 10 teams from seven countries and regions, with Chinese athletes overcoming challenging high winds to secure victory.
Olympic champion Qi Guangpu delivered a clutch performance in the final round, executing a flawless jump to propel China Team 1 (315.35 points) past compatriots Chen Meiting, Wang Xindi, and Sun Jiaxu of China Team 2 (308.49 points). The U.S. team claimed bronze in the competition that tested athletes’ technical precision under adverse weather conditions.
This year’s Chongli event marks China’s continued dominance in winter sports following its successful hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The Secret Garden Snow Park, a legacy venue from those Games, remains a hub for international winter sports competitions as Beijing prepares to co-host the 2027 Asian Winter Games with Harbin.
