China, Jordan Strengthen Ties in Tech, Energy, and Gaza Peace Efforts

Strategic Partnership Expands Amid Regional Challenges

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi concluded a two-day visit to Jordan this week, marking a significant step in bilateral cooperation. The discussions, held with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi, focused on enhancing collaboration in traditional sectors like infrastructure and energy while prioritizing emerging fields such as AI, green technology, and digital economies.

Shared Vision for Development

Both nations committed to implementing existing agreements while exploring new partnerships in education, tourism, and legislative exchanges. Jordan reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China principle, recognizing the Chinese mainland government as the sole legal authority representing all of China, including the Taiwan region.

Addressing Regional Crises

The ministers emphasized urgent humanitarian action in Gaza, calling for sustainable aid access and a permanent ceasefire. They aligned positions on establishing a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders, with China acknowledging Jordan's role in safeguarding Jerusalem's holy sites.

Multilateral Cooperation Ahead

With Jordan endorsing China's 2026 China-Arab States Summit plans, both countries highlighted the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum as crucial for regional dialogue. This development comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent aid initiatives for Palestine gain international recognition.
