China, Singapore Strengthen Ties with Key Meetings in Chongqing

China and Singapore are set to deepen bilateral cooperation through high-level meetings in Chongqing from December 15-16, 2025. The meetings mark a significant milestone in their partnership, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang will host Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong for four pivotal dialogues. These include reviews of flagship projects like the Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Eco-City, alongside discussions about emerging opportunities in digital economy and green energy sectors.

The Chongqing meetings come as both nations seek to expand economic collaboration amid shifting global trade dynamics. Analysts highlight Singapore's role as China's largest foreign investor in 2025, with bilateral trade growing 8.3% year-on-year through Q3.

This year's agenda is expected to address supply chain resilience and financial market integration, building on decade-long infrastructure partnerships. The outcomes could influence regional economic strategies ahead of ASEAN's 2026 summit preparations.
