Some areas are expected to see declines exceeding 12°C, marking the sharpest chill in six months for communities along the Yangtze River and northern zones.
The National Meteorological Center issued blue alerts Friday morning for the cold wave, heavy snowfall, and strong winds. The warnings highlight risks to transportation, agriculture, and daily life, urging residents to prepare for freezing conditions.
As the cold front advances, cities such as Wuhan, Hefei, and Nanjing are anticipated to experience their lowest temperatures since June 2025. Authorities have advised vulnerable populations, including the elderly and outdoor workers, to limit exposure during peak cold hours.
Travelers and businesses are also on alert, with disruptions possible in logistics and energy supply chains. Meteorologists predict the cold snap will persist through Saturday, with gradual moderation expected early next week.
