DPRK Air Force to Acquire New Strategic Military Assets, Leader Announces

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will equip its air force with new strategic military assets, leader Kim Jong Un declared during celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Korean People's Army (KPA) air force on Friday. The announcement, reported by state media KCNA, underscores the DPRK's focus on bolstering its nuclear deterrence capabilities amid heightened regional tensions.

Kim, who holds the titles of general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, emphasized the air force's critical role in countering perceived threats. He stated the force must "resolutely repulse" espionage activities and military provocations targeting the country's airspace, aligning with the ruling party's expectations for enhanced defense readiness.

The leader also observed a demonstration flight by air force units and awarded the Order of Kim Jong Il, the DPRK's highest honor, to the KPA air force. Analysts suggest the move signals potential advancements in the DPRK's aerial warfare capabilities, though technical details of the new assets remain undisclosed.
