Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin reaffirmed commitments to strengthen bilateral cooperation during high-level talks in Moscow this week, signaling renewed momentum for economic and cultural collaboration between the two nations.
At the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, Li emphasized China's readiness to expand partnerships in energy, agriculture, and cross-border investment. "Our market welcomes more high-quality Russian agricultural products," Li stated, while urging streamlined conditions for Chinese businesses operating in Russia.
The discussions built on agreements from September's landmark SCO Tianjin Summit, which Premier Li described as having "milestone significance" for regional development. Both leaders pledged to accelerate implementation of consensus reached earlier this year by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Key focus areas include:

Boosting agricultural trade and food supply chain resilience
Expanding cultural exchanges in education and film production
Strengthening SCO institutional frameworks to address global challenges
Mishustin noted the "unprecedented high level" of Russia-China coordination, committing to create favorable conditions for Chinese investors while praising Beijing's SCO leadership. The two nations aim to finalize new cooperation roadmaps by early 2026.
This development comes as both countries intensify efforts to align Global South nations behind initiatives for multipolar world governance and reformed economic globalization models.
