AI Revolutionizes Durian Grading at 2025 CIIE

Shanghai's China International Import Expo (CIIE) has unveiled a groundbreaking artificial intelligence system transforming quality control in the durian trade. Using advanced CT scanning technology, the innovation enables non-destructive analysis of fruit maturity, flesh content, and flavor profiles with 98.7% accuracy.

Developed through collaboration between agricultural technologists and AI engineers, the system addresses longstanding challenges in the $23 billion global durian market. "This eliminates the traditional practice of puncturing fruits for inspection," explained CGTN reporter Xu Yi during a live demonstration. "It preserves product integrity while ensuring consistent premium quality."

The technology comes as durian consumption surges across Asia, particularly following the Chinese mainland's 2023 agreement with Vietnam to expand tropical fruit imports. Industry analysts predict the AI grading system could reduce waste by 40% and increase exporter profits by up to 35% when fully implemented in 2026.
