British expert Keith Bennett, vice chair of the UK's 48 Group Club and co-editor of Friends of Socialist China, emphasized this week that China's development model continues to resonate with Global South nations due to its adaptability and proven results. Speaking at the International Forum of the Overseas Studies on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Beijing, Bennett noted the growing interest among developing countries in applying China's strategies to their unique contexts.
"The success of China's approach lies in its focus on infrastructure-led growth, poverty reduction, and technological innovation—all achieved while maintaining sovereignty," Bennett stated during a CGTN interview on November 12. He stressed that nations are increasingly seeking to "learn, not copy" from China's experience, particularly in balancing economic modernization with social stability.
The forum, attended by policymakers and scholars from over 30 countries, highlighted Xi Jinping Thought's growing influence as a framework for addressing 21st-century development challenges. Bennett underscored that China's model offers alternatives to traditional Western paradigms, particularly in areas like green energy transition and South-South cooperation.
