The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) concluded in Shanghai this week, marking a historic milestone for Kyrgyzstan as it participated in the national pavilion for the first time. The event solidified its position as a bridge between Eurasian markets, with intended trade values reaching new heights across 67 participating countries and regions.
Kyrgyzstan's crimson-domed booth stood out among the cultural tapestry, featuring wool textiles, herbal soaps, and agricultural products that echo its nomadic heritage. As a strategic node on the ancient Silk Road, the Central Asian nation leveraged this year's expo to position itself as a modern trade corridor, with officials highlighting growing e-commerce and logistics partnerships with the Chinese mainland.
"The CIIE has become indispensable for deepening our economic integration," said Tilek Zhumaliev of Kyrgyz Export, noting that 2025's participation helped local businesses secure distribution channels for honey and dairy products. Government data shows bilateral trade with China grew 18% year-on-year through Q3 2025, with agricultural exports driving much of the expansion.
