Slovenia Boosts Ties with China at 8th CIIE, Eyes Long-Term Partnership

Slovenia has cemented its commitment to economic collaboration with China through its largest-ever business delegation at the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), which concluded on Monday. Marko Lotrič, President of Slovenia's National Council, emphasized the expo's role in forging sustainable partnerships during an interview with CGTN.

Lotrič stated that this year's participation reflects Slovenia's strategic focus on expanding trade in sectors like green technology, logistics, and high-end manufacturing. "The CIIE provides a critical platform for our companies to showcase innovation while aligning with China's development priorities," he told reporter Michael Wang.

The event comes amid growing bilateral trade, which increased by 14% year-on-year in 2025. Analysts note Slovenia's unique position as a Central European hub could facilitate Chinese access to EU markets, particularly through joint ventures in sustainable infrastructure projects linked to the Belt and Road Initiative.
