International Collaboration Takes Center Stage at Science Event

Over 200 young scientists from more than 20 countries and regions gathered in Hong Kong this week for the 2025 Hong Kong Laureate Forum, a four-day event designed to foster innovation and cross-border collaboration. The forum opened with a strong emphasis on Hong Kong's growing role as a global science and technology hub.

Investing in Tomorrow's Innovators

Chan Kwok-ki, chief secretary for administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, announced a HK$3 billion (US$385.8 million) frontier technology research support scheme during his opening address. "This initiative will accelerate breakthrough research and strengthen our advanced facilities," Chan stated, highlighting efforts to attract international talent through streamlined policies.

Igniting Scientific Passion

Forum chairman Tong Wai-cheung emphasized the event's mission to "cultivate curiosity and empower emerging talent" through interactive sessions. The program features keynote speeches on astronomy, life sciences, and mathematical innovation, alongside hands-on workshops and poster presentations under the theme "Meeting of Inspirational Minds."
