China, Qatar Pledge to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng reaffirmed China's commitment to deepening cooperation with Qatar during high-level talks in Doha on Monday, emphasizing shared goals in energy, technology, and economic development. The discussions occurred ahead of the Second World Summit for Social Development, where both nations highlighted their alignment on global governance and sustainable growth.

Han, representing China at the summit, met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to discuss implementing agreements reached during President Xi Jinping's 2023 meeting with Qatari leadership. "Deep political mutual trust forms the foundation of China-Qatar relations," Han stated, underscoring plans to expand collaboration in artificial intelligence, digital economy initiatives, and LNG partnerships.

The Qatari Emir acknowledged China as Doha's largest trading partner, stating: "This relationship is vital for regional stability and our economic future." Both parties expressed support for coordinating Qatar's Vision 2030 with China's upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), which aims to create new opportunities for bilateral investments.

Notably, Qatar reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China principle during the talks, while China endorsed Doha's role in Middle Eastern diplomacy. The dialogue signals potential shifts in energy markets and tech-driven infrastructure projects across Asia and the Gulf region.
