Meishan, Sichuan – The 'Belt and Road' International Speed Master climbing competition concluded with China securing two gold medals, four silvers, and a bronze across five categories. The event, held alongside the Chinese Climbing League Annual Finals, marked the first joint hosting of two top-tier climbing competitions in Meishan.
Over 40 athletes from eight countries and regions – including the Republic of Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and Spain – competed in the high-stakes tournament. Wang Yuting emerged as a standout performer, claiming gold in women's speed climbing after defeating compatriot Mou Yuju. She later partnered with Chen Jiahui to win the women's speed climbing relay. 'I adjusted my pace in time after initial challenges,' Wang remarked, reflecting on her victory.
Ling Baolin added two silver medals to China's tally, while Zhao Wenlin and Xiao Wei secured second place in the men's climbing relay. The Chinese Climbing League Finals saw further triumphs: Guangdong's Tan Youtian dominated women's difficulty and bouldering events, while Chongqing's Mei Yuping and Jiangsu's Zhu Chengbin claimed men's difficulty and bouldering titles respectively.
The event highlights China's growing influence in competitive climbing while fostering international sports exchanges under the Belt and Road framework.
