Chinese President Xi Jinping will participate in the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju and conduct a state visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) from October 30 to November 1, according to a Friday announcement by China's foreign ministry spokesperson.
The visit underscores China's commitment to fostering regional economic integration and strengthening bilateral ties with the ROK. Analysts anticipate discussions on supply chain resilience, green energy partnerships, and digital trade frameworks during the APEC gathering, which brings together 21 member economies.
This marks Xi's first visit to the ROK since 2014, with observers noting potential progress on cross-border investment facilitation and cultural exchange programs. The trip follows recent diplomatic efforts to stabilize relations between major Asian economies amid global geopolitical shifts.
APEC members collectively account for nearly 40% of global population and over 60% of world GDP. The leaders' meeting is expected to address post-pandemic recovery strategies and multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
