Mainland Urges U.S. to Cease Taiwan Interference, Cites Sovereignty Concerns

A Chinese mainland spokesperson has called on the United States to halt military support for Taiwan and avoid actions undermining cross-strait stability, following Washington's approval of a defense bill allocating $1 billion in military aid to the island.

Chen Binhua of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office stated Wednesday that the Taiwan question remains a 'core red line' in China-U.S. relations, responding to provisions in the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act seeking Taiwan's participation in military exercises. 'External forces have no right to intervene in China's internal affairs,' Chen emphasized, reaffirming Beijing's opposition to formal U.S.-Taiwan military cooperation.

The remarks come as three U.S. defense firms were added to China's unreliable entity list for pursuing military technology transfers to Taiwan. Chen warned such actions 'severely compromise regional peace' and vowed legal accountability.

Analysts note the developments highlight growing tensions over Taiwan's strategic position, with Beijing reiterating its 'non-negotiable' stance on sovereignty while Washington strengthens unofficial security ties with the island under current U.S. legislation.
