Chinese President Xi Jinping called for unity and modernization-driven progress during celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region's establishment this week. Speaking at a gathering in Urumqi on Thursday, Xi emphasized the region's role in China's development strategy, stating: "We must fully leverage Xinjiang's unique advantages to forge a new chapter of stability and prosperity."

During meetings with representatives from ethnic groups and industries, Xi outlined priorities for Xinjiang's growth, stressing the need to "strengthen ethnic solidarity and safeguard social stability" while advancing infrastructure and sustainable industries. His remarks highlighted Xinjiang's strategic importance as a hub for cross-border trade and energy corridors.

Modernization and Cultural Preservation

Xi reaffirmed commitments to improving livelihoods through education, healthcare, and employment initiatives, noting: "The happiness of people of all ethnicities is the ultimate goal of our work." He also praised efforts to preserve Uygur cultural heritage while integrating the region into national development frameworks.

The visit underscores Beijing's focus on balancing economic growth with social cohesion in Xinjiang, a region pivotal to China's Belt and Road ambitions.
