Super Typhoon Ragasa Claims 6 Lives, Triggers Chaos in Northern Philippines

Deadly Storm Wreaks Havoc Across Northern Provinces

Super Typhoon Ragasa has unleashed torrential rains and destructive winds across the northern Philippines, leaving at least six dead and triggering landslides, floods, and widespread damage. Rescue teams continue to search for three missing individuals as communities grapple with the aftermath.

Coastal and Inland Communities Hit Hard

The Philippine Coast Guard confirmed four fatalities after a fishing boat capsized off Cagayan province, while a 67-year-old man was found dead in La Union after being swept into a river. In Benguet province, a landslide crushed a vehicle, killing a 74-year-old man and injuring others. Over 1,000 residents have been evacuated as roads remain blocked and power outages persist.

Rescue Operations Intensify

Six survivors from the capsized boat were rescued, but rough seas and debris have hampered efforts to locate remaining missing persons. Local authorities warn of continued risks from unstable terrain and swollen rivers as Ragasa moves northwest toward the Taiwan Strait.
