China Urges Gaza Ceasefire: ‘Force Cannot Bring Peace’

China has intensified its diplomatic push for peace in Gaza, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun declaring that "force cannot bring peace" during a press briefing on Monday. The remarks come amid escalating global concern over the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Guo emphasized that Gaza remains an inseparable part of Palestinian territory and stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire to alleviate civilian suffering. "Countries with special influence over Israel must act responsibly," he stated, signaling indirect calls for third-party mediation.

Reiterating Beijing's long-standing position, Guo advocated for "Palestinians governing Palestine" in post-conflict reconstruction and reaffirmed China's support for a two-state solution. He cautioned against unilateral actions that could destabilize negotiations, aligning with broader international appeals for de-escalation.

The spokesperson highlighted China's commitment to multilateral efforts, stating: "We will work with the global community to restore the Palestinian people's legitimate rights." The comments underscore China's growing role as a diplomatic stakeholder in Middle Eastern affairs, balancing strategic partnerships with humanitarian advocacy.
