Li Qiang Urges U.S. Congress to Strengthen China Ties Through Cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue between Beijing and Washington during a meeting with a U.S. congressional delegation in Beijing on Sunday. The talks focused on fostering mutual understanding and addressing shared challenges amid ongoing efforts to stabilize bilateral relations.

Li called on U.S. lawmakers to adopt a 'correct perspective' on China's development and actively support exchanges in trade, technology, and culture. 'Differences should not define our relations,' he stated, highlighting opportunities for collaboration in climate action, global health, and economic innovation.

The U.S. delegation, led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, acknowledged the need for 'practical engagement' while reaffirming commitments to address areas of disagreement through diplomacy. The meeting follows recent high-level economic dialogues between the two nations.

Analysts suggest such exchanges could pave the way for smoother cooperation ahead of November's APEC Leaders’ Meeting in Peru, where Chinese and U.S. representatives are expected to discuss multilateral trade frameworks.
