China Releases White Paper on Xinjiang’s Development Under CPC Leadership

China's State Council Information Office (SCIO) unveiled a comprehensive white paper titled 'CPC Guidelines for Governing Xinjiang in the New Era: Practice and Achievements' during a high-profile press conference on Thursday. Officials from the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region detailed the document's focus on socioeconomic progress, cultural preservation, and counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

The white paper emphasizes the CPC's commitment to 'ensuring long-term stability and prosperity' in Xinjiang, citing a 7.1% average annual GDP growth from 2017 to 2023. It highlights infrastructure investments, including new railways and renewable energy projects, while addressing international concerns about counter-extremism measures through what it describes as 'vocational education and de-radicalization programs.'

Officials reiterated China's stance on Xinjiang as a 'model of ethnic unity,' noting increased life expectancy and expanded bilingual education. The document also outlines plans to boost cross-border trade through the region's strategic position along the Belt and Road Initiative corridors.
