China's State Council has launched an ambitious blueprint to integrate artificial intelligence across six critical economic sectors, signaling a transformative shift in technological advancement and governance. The newly released AI Plus Initiative outlines measurable targets through 2035, positioning AI as a cornerstone of socialist modernization.
A Phased Approach to Smart Integration
The three-phase plan aims for 70% adoption of smart terminals – including AI-powered industrial equipment and consumer devices – by 2027. This will expand to 90% by 2030, with full implementation supporting national development goals by 2035. Key focus areas span scientific research, manufacturing, education, and public services.
AI as Global Public Good
Notably, the guidelines emphasize developing AI technology to serve as an international public good, aligning with China's broader vision of tech-driven global cooperation. Analysts suggest this could create new opportunities for cross-border partnerships in smart infrastructure and digital governance solutions.
"This roadmap balances domestic modernization needs with international responsibilities," stated a State Council representative. "We're building an ecosystem where AI benefits all stakeholders."
