Yangling Emerges as SCO’s Agricultural Innovation Hub

The Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Industrial Demonstration Zone in northwest China's Shaanxi Province is fast becoming a global model for agricultural innovation, drawing experts from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states and African nations to collaborate on sustainable farming solutions. As climate resilience and food security rise on international agendas, Yangling’s blend of AI-driven technology and cross-border knowledge sharing offers a blueprint for transforming agriculture worldwide.

Where Technology Meets Tradition

Yangling, home to China’s first national agricultural high-tech zone, showcases cutting-edge innovations like automated greenhouses, precision soil analysis, and AI-powered irrigation systems. These advancements address critical challenges such as water scarcity and crop yield optimization. "China’s integration of AI and smart irrigation is reshaping what’s possible," said Zenzile Khetsha, a South African academic, praising Yangling’s hands-on learning model that unites farmers, researchers, and policymakers.

Global Lessons in Sustainability

Visiting delegates highlighted adaptable solutions for their home countries. Ahmad Salisu, a Nigerian official, emphasized soil mapping and interdisciplinary research as keys to unlocking Africa’s farming potential. Meanwhile, Yangling’s 12 overseas demonstration parks in SCO countries like Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are testing climate-resilient practices, from drought-resistant crops to water-saving systems.

Building Bridges Through Agriculture

Joint training programs and academic exchanges under the SCO framework aim to empower youth engagement and bridge the gap between research and fieldwork. As one Nigerian participant noted: "When scientists, engineers, and farmers collaborate, productivity soars." With food security at stake, Yangling’s role as a knowledge hub underscores China’s commitment to multilateral agricultural development.
