Israel Announces Gaza Relocation Plan Amid Famine Concerns

Israel's military announced plans Saturday to relocate residents of Gaza from combat zones to the southern part of the enclave, citing safety concerns. The operation, set to begin Sunday, will involve distributing tents and shelter equipment through UN and international relief organizations via the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The move follows Israel's stated intention to launch a new offensive in northern Gaza City, sparking international alarm over humanitarian conditions in the densely populated area. Over 2.2 million people reside in the Gaza Strip, where infrastructure has been severely damaged by months of conflict.

Defense ministry personnel will inspect all aid materials before distribution, according to the military statement. The relocation plan comes as UN agencies warn of worsening famine risks, with food and medical supplies critically low across the territory.

Analysts suggest the proposed southern relocation could further strain resources in areas already overwhelmed by displaced populations. Humanitarian groups emphasize the urgent need for sustained ceasefire negotiations and unimpeded aid access.
